Cultivating Community Through Plants

"I see fellow business owners banking at LBB. It's like a Who's Who. You know your dollars are staying local and not funding a large out-of-the-area business." Brad Watts, Owner

Growing Together

Brad Watts purchased Valley Nursery in 1986. “I was a plant nut and this passion channeled into the business,” Brad says. He started with no business experience but quickly learned. “And I’m still learning.”

Valley Nursery sits on six acres of land just north of downtown Poulsbo and offers a wide variety of plants and supplies to the Kitsap region and beyond. There is always a certified Horticulturalist on-duty along with knowledgeable staff to help customers. Valley Nursery features gardening consultation and design services, educational classes, at-home delivery and so much more. “As my business progresses,” Brad says, “I expect the community to embrace the next generation of Valley Nursery just as the community and I have embraced each other.”

Small Town Values

When Liberty Bay Bank opened its doors in 2009, Brad signed on right away. “I have always been with a small town bank. They make it easy to bank with them,” Brad explains. “They work with the way I do business. Their staff is friendly and they make it feel like something other than a bank.”

Liberty Bay Bank’s personalized service is important to Brad. “My values are very conservative. I don’t take big risks most of the time. However, when I do, LBB has been there for me.”

“As my business progresses to the next generation,” Brad says, “I hope that my daughter Riley and son-in-law Justin as well as my other daughter Bailey, embrace Liberty Bay Bank and develop a strong relationship with them.”
